Professional Guide Justin Wilson

Justin Wilson, owner and guide, grew up between the two lakes and has been fishing them his entire life. He has been a full time guide since 2014. Other guides may surpass Justin on number of years in business, but it is our belief that we are the hardest working and best option out there. Justin is always willing to go the extra mile to put you on the fish. To us, this is what makes the difference between a good and GREAT guide.

Feel free to call or text anytime and he will personally respond. Text or email responses are usually a little quicker as we spend most of our time on the water with clients. If you call and do not get an answer be sure and leave a message and he will get back to you as quickly as possible.

    • Where to buy

      • License can be bought anywhere that sells Hunting & Fishing License (Academy Sports, WalMart, select gas stations) or online through tpwd.texas.gov

  • What should I bring?

    • Cooler with any drinks or snacks, most trips run an average of 4 hours, so pack accordingly. Also, leave some room to be able to carry your freshly cleaned fish home. Alcohol is allowed. No glass bottles.

    • Children 12 years of age and younger are required to wear a life jacket at all times. If you have your own you are more than welcome to bring it, if not one will be provided.

  • How should I dress?

    • Always look at the forecast and dress accordingly. Summer months are usually pretty easy to pattern, however during the cooler months I advise to always wear more than you need. You can always take it off. Daylight hours on the water tend to be slightly cooler than forecasted along with wind from the drive out. â€‹

  • Do you fish in the rain?

    • Rainy days are usually judged the night before. Texas weather can be very unpredictable with some storms lasting only a couple hours of the day. If it's just a slight drizzle and no storms/wind I strongly advise going. These days are known to be some of the best days on the water as far as the bite goes. As always, Safety is our number one goal and we will always work with a client to reschedule a trip if we feel it to be unsafe.

  • Lodging?

    • There are several lodging options within reasonable distance to both lakes.

    • We recommend Tanglewood Resort when visiting Texoma along with several air bnbs according to group size.

    • For Ray Roberts, Lonestar Lodge is the closest lodging along with several chain hotel options near Denton. Camp grounds are also available at Isle du Bois State Park.

  • Is it Guaranteed?

    • YES! Here at Wilson Outdoor Connection it is our goal to provide our clients with the best experience possible. If we do not catch fish during your trip your next trip is on us! â€‹

  • Will our fish be cleaned for us?

    • YES! Fish cleaning is included with your trip. We pride ourselves on being able to provide the best cleaning options available. Fish will be fileted, bagged and rinsed at the end of each trip. Striper will also always be "red-meated". Be sure and leave some room in your cooler. On a good day it usually comes out to about a gallon bag of filets per limit of fish on both lakes.

  • What's the difference between the two lakes?

    • Distance from home and size of fish are usually the biggest factor for most. As avid fisherman we recommend making the drive to Texoma to have a chance at catching a fish of a lifetime. Texoma is one of the best striped bass fisheries in the world as far as numbers go, with most fish being between the 3-8 pound range and 10-20 plus pound fish caught regularly. With a limit of 10 fish per person and 2 of those being over 20 inches long, you get a good amount of meat per fish along with a great fight. Ray Roberts is a beautiful destination as well that is close to home for most of our clients living in the metroplex. White bass is usually a numbers game with most of them being in the 1-2 pound range but with a 25 fish limit you can fill the freezer fairly quickly.  â€‹

  • Who can I bring and how many people?

    • We run custom boats built to guide out of that allow us to take up to 6 fisherman per boat depending on the style of fishing we are doing at the time. Multiple boats are available for bigger groups. We recommend each fisherman be at least 5 years of age. For bigger groups (12 plus people) we do offer a discount. Company retreats, bachelor parties, birthdays, holidays, or just a quick get away... we can accommodate any size group.
